The course material appears disorganised and confusing. The accompanying written guidance seems long winded and poorly written. A simplified version would be better. It seems overly bureaucratic without an overriding road map as to what happens next and when. I joined the course in March 2023 but the dates all appear configured for someone beginning the start of the academic year. If I thought I could get my money back I would. There is nothing particularly modern looking or even arty about the course work graphics or choice of fonts - it could do with an upgrade or refresh. I couldn’t help thinking also that some of the tasks that had been set could have easily been found in a ‘teach yourself to paint and draw’ textbook that already sit on my book shelf. For the amount of money the course costs I don’t really feel I’m getting much value of it. Apologies for sounding so negative.

I was dubious about an online course. I looked into so many design courses for my daughter but OCAD appeared to be the only course with proper qualifications at the end.
I am the sort of person that doesn’t trust anyone and like to ask lots and lots of questions before I part with my money. The staff were very helpful whilst I phoned and ask questions about the course.
To begin with my Daughter and I found teams very hard to understand, I’m not great with computers at the best of times and in the first two weeks felt like giving up and asking for our money back (technical issues we found out with our computer, nothing to do with teams itself), however Miss Reece and the other Art tutor (whose name has slipped my mind) we’re extremely helpful and talked us through it very simply. They have been great with responding to messages (something I was again concerned wouldn’t halogen once we had paid for the course) and feedback and my daughter is actually really enjoying the art course so much more than I anticipated.

Good points: live lessons and teacher available for feedback or assistance via message twice a week. Level 2 Art and Design certificate very comprehensive. Only downside is that it is no longer available as a GCSE due to a change in mind by exam board. However the level 2 is still an official qualification and exam board assessed online. The price is three times higher than other online GCSE courses. However this is the only online portal I could find with a certified art course.

My child is a highly gifted learner and I have been fortunate enough to have been able to send her to one of the most well regarded and well-known prep school in the UK. It became necessary for me to travel away from the UK for up to a year, starting August 2022 and I made arrangements for her to attend what I understood was the top school on the Island. The quality of the teaching and subjects on offer was far below what we were accustomed to and within the first few weeks I began to fear that this was not going to work.
I did some research online to see if there were any good online schools in the UK, that would allow her to attend a UK school from outside the UK. I did not expect an online school to be as good as her old prep school, but I expected it to be better than what she had experience for the first term in the school abroad. My search produced Cambridge online school at the top of the search, we read the review and my husband remarked that it appears too good to be true.
I had an initial discussion with the deputy head and was persuaded by that discussion to enrol. The reviews prove to be very true; it is 5-star education indeed. The subject and the quality of teaching is on par with her old prep school. My child is now at the school since the beginning of the term, and she is loving every minute of it. The subjects she is doing, the quality of the teaching and the teachers appear to be fantastic so far. My child is challenged, engaged and is making significant academic gains. I regard this school as quite a find and would happily recommend it.

The content of the course is good however the contact with Tudor is limited and impersonal. Also when requesting a little bit of support none was given. The course also starts at different times so if you start from the beginning you are not learning in real time something that is not explicit in the information.

We have submitted an application to Cambridge Online Education School in November 2022 for a vacancy in either Year 9 or Year 10 through the route of enhanced application with payment of £299 as the prescribed application fee. We have received an email acknowledging receipt of our payment of the prescribed fee. Our enhanced application was sent to the School in accordance with the direction of the School stated on its email to us. Since then, we have heard nothing from the School as if no application has ever been submitted. Not recommend any parents to submit to this School an enhanced application and pay the relevant application fee. We regret for having submitted an application to Cambridge Online Education! !

My 13 year old daughter has just started online with CHS last week so it is quite early to review, however the helpline staff and deputy head have been extremely prompt in answering our questions, arranging a taster day and enrolling her. As with everything new, we did have a couple of technical teething problems which were quickly remedied by the expert guidance of the deputy head, making the transition to online easy. As she missed a full term of the academic year, the option to view the missed ‘recorded’ lessons was a real bonus. My daughter has Asperger’s so struggled with main stream school friendships and her confidence and self esteem hit rock bottom. Being bullied at school also added to prolonged absences but since leaving mainstream schooling and joining CHS, we have got our motivated, focused and confident daughter back. The routine of the timetable means she can focus fully on the live classes and she manages her time independently. The small class sizes (usually no more than 8) and recording of all lessons mean she is confident to interact with the class and teachers, something she would shy away from previously for fear of ridicule. We also have full access to her teams account and are encouraged by the school to follow her progress, homework assignments, feedback etc weekly should we wish to do so. Live parents evenings are also tabled in so you can keep up to date in the usual way. Being able to opt out of certain lessons on the timetable like Latin (which she has no desire to pursue) has also made the timetable specific to her needs. We would recommend CHS from what we have experienced so far. So so helpful and caring.

So far my experience has been very positive. I am learning lots of new techniques and skills that will help for future art. The teachers are lovely and are happy to answer all your questions. The instructions for tasks are clear and the videos are helpful and informative. It has overall been a very positive experience and I look forward to the future. The only part I found confusing at times was nagivgating teams but once you get the hang of it it’s a breeze.
